The deadline for most people to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme was 30th June 2021. If you or your family are from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein, you can still apply if you or a family member were living in the UK by 31st December 2020.
Following the UK’s exit from the European Union, all EU and European Economic Area (EEA) residents must have residence status under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) to continue living and studying in the UK. This is equally applicable to their family members who may or may not be EU/EEA citizens.
Irish citizens do not need to apply to the EUSS, but their family members who are non-British or Irish are required to apply.
The EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) applies to EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens even if they have been in the UK for many years and/or if they have been married to a British spouse for a long time.
If an individual has moved to the UK before 1st January 1973, they might have received an Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) status automatically if they are an EU, EEA, or a Swiss citizen.
